Malda (West Bengal): Prabhat Tudu, a BJP leader from West Bengal's Malda district was shot at by two unidentified miscreants late at night on Friday. The incident took place in the Ranjkali area of Mahishbathan village of Old Malda Bhabuk Gram Panchayat. He has been admitted to the Malda Medical College and Hospital. Police have arrested one of the miscreants, Alim Khan (22) a resident of Narayanpur village in Kaliachak police station limits.
According to Prabhat Tudu, the booth president of Qutubpur, saw two youths speaking on the road in front of their house, he also observed that their bike did not have a number plate on it. Suspecting that something was wrong, Prabhat confronted them, it was then that the miscreants opened fire and fled from the scene. Luckily, Prabhat survived despite the bullet having hit his head as he was wearing a turban.

Speaking about the matter, BJP's district-level leader Champai Besra said that after the assembly elections, many such incidents have taken place, wherein BJP leaders were targeted, adding that a thorough police investigation must be done. However, the villagers say that the incident has no political connection. On the other hand, an accused miscreant was caught by the volunteers of the Municipal Corporation on charges of reckless driving and a pistol was recovered from him. During interrogation, he admitted that his friend had fired the BJP leader.
