Pratapgarh: The issue of 'abandonment newborn babies', which was reported to a shocking 11 cases, last year, sadly registered a new entry on Monday.
A newborn baby was found abandoned near Shiv Palace area in Katra Medniganj of Uttar Pradesh's Praygraj district, taking the total number to 12 infants.
Passers-by found the newborn on the footpath, following which they informed the authorities. The police reached the spot and took the baby, later admitting it to a nearby district hospital.

Dr. M S Khan, who is currently treating the baby, said that the newborn was a pre-term child (around one day) and she is being treated in the Special Neonatal Care Unit (SMCU).
"Her condition is stable now and once she recovers, we will hand over the baby to the Child Welfare Department," he added.
