New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Friday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of malpractices in the just-concluded first phase of the Lok Sabha polls and cautioned the Election Commission of India to brush up its act and discharge its "constitutional responsibility" strictly in the coming phases of election.
She tweeted that with voters rejecting the ruling BJP in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections the party has now decided to win, "Not by vote but by notes, EVM rigging and abuse of police and government machinary".
"If there is need to protect the confidence of common man in the country, then constitutional responsibility of Election Commission of India is to take cognisance of these things and take immediate measures to ensure free and fair elections in coming phases of polling," Mayawati added.
