Kolkata: Five BJP supporters have been arrested for allegedly vandalizing an office of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and attacking its members in East Bardhaman district of West Bengal.

Police said that the incident happened when BJP supporters along with their candidate Bhishmadev Bhattacharya were campaigning in Nauhati village of Memari Police Station area in the district on Saturday afternoon.

According to the police, it was after a heated debate between TMC and BJP supporters, that several houses were ransacked and gold and two lakh rupees in cash were looted and two cars and four bikes were damaged.

During the scuffle, a TMC office in the area was also targeted.
