Ex-IPS once close to Mamta, Joins BJP

West Bengal: Amid the big showdown in West Bengal politics, former IPS Bharti Ghosh, who was once said to be very close confidant to Mamata Banerjee, joined BJP on Tuesday.

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Ghosh not only outlined her reasons behind joining the BJP but also criticised Mamata Banerjee on the ongoing row in West Bengal.

Bharti said that she joined BJP because she believed in the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and reiterated that her, contesting in the upcoming parliamentary elections, would depend on the party and chose to emphasise that she joined politics only to serve the people.

Commenting on the ongoing situation in West Bengal, Ghosh said that the current Mamta Banerjee government was trying to kill democracy just to protect herself and her close aides.
