Sahibabad (Uttar Pradesh): In a strange incident, a man hailing from Gaziabad got a challan of his bike which was stolen four years ago from Sahibabad area.
In 2005, while Pradeep Roy, 32, was dropping his son at a school in Gaziabad, someone had stolen his bike. He had also tried to lodge a complaint, but SHO from Tulsi Niketan police station had denied taking complaint against the stolen bike.
"I was shocked when I got a challan of Rs 100 for not wearing a helmet while driving my bike, which was stolen in 2015", said Pradeep.
"I visited Tulsi Niketan Police station for 10-25 times to register an FIR. I was advised to visit other police stations to register the FIR. Lastly, I had to cancel my idea of registering the compliant and finally, I purchased a new bike", narrated Pradeep Roy.
However, after the matter gained media attention, an FIR of bike theft was registered after four years.
One is left to wonder, how the police could issue a challan for the stolen bike but unable to trace the same bike plying in that road for over four years.
