Ghaziabad: With hardly few days left for the first phase of the 2019 general elections, the candidates are leaving no stone unturned to woo an estimated 27 lakh voters of the Ghaziabad parliamentary constituency. Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union Minister General (retired) V.K. Singh was seen driving a tractor during campaigning in his constituency.
Singh was campaigning in Loni's Naipura village. It is considered to be a tough battle for Singh as Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra too held a roadshow in Ghaziabad on Friday in support of the party’s candidate Dolly Sharma.
Once a much-neglected constituency, Ghaziabad has suddenly become a hotbed of political activity. It has emerged as one of Uttar Pradesh's most sought-after constituencies with a triangular battle raging between BJP candidate General (retired) V.K. Singh, Congress's Raj Babbar, and AAP's Shazia Ilmi.
Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held from April 11 and will go on till May 19 in seven phases. The polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held in all seven phases. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
