The new education policy aims to provide the option of higher education in a total of 11 Indian languages, but the translation work related to the curriculum pertaining to technical education has turned into a big challenge. Anil Sahasrabudhe said that the work on the translation had been on for 3 years, and was intensified following the implementation of the new education policy. The Vice-Chancellors of many big educational institutions of the country were contacted for their cooperation in this aspect.
Students pursuing engineering first year will get the option to study the curriculum in their regional language from this session, while those pursuing their second, third and fourth-year students may have to wait longer. Appreciating the work done by the institutions, Anil Sahasrabudhe said that the role of technology has also been important in fighting the epidemic. While advising everyone to use the word 'physical distancing' instead of 'social distancing', he said that at present physical distancing is necessary but there is a need to cooperate and help each other by eliminating social distance.
