Nearly 200 huts gutted as fire breaks out at a slum in Delhi

New Delhi: As many as 200 huts were gutted as a fire broke out in a slum area near Paschim Puri in the early hours of Wednesday.

As per the sources, the fire department received a call around 1 am and have dispatched fire tenders to control the inferno.

"It took us more than two hours to douse the flames and no casualties, except for a woman who sustained injuries, were reported," said Fire Officer A K Jaiswal.

The officials further said that the fire was controlled and have begun the cooling operations. The woman who was injured in the accident was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

More details of the accident, including the cause of the fire, are yet to be ascertained.
