New Delhi: Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi claimed that more than six crore minority students have received scholarships in the past five years.
Naqvi presented the data in response to a query put forth by Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha on the number of scholarships offered by their government to the minority students in their regime.
According to the data, more than 17 crore Muslim minority students registered themselves with the government out of which more than 2.5 crore have already received the scholarship.
Talking about the Jain community, he said more than 3 crore students have received the scholarship.
Naqvi further claimed that the scholarships were given only on the basis of merit-cum-means. However, he also cleared that the aid has been given on premetric as well as post-matric level.
