Chennai: Displeased with the pay scale, government doctors in Tamil Nadu staged a protest against the state government on Friday, demanding the implementation of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) as per the recommendations of a working group to review the state government order 354 and invoke the perspective clause.
Six doctors of the state hospital took off from duty and observed a hunger strike over the issue.
Besides salary revision, the doctors also demanded increase in the strength of medicos in government medical college and hospitals.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Coordinator of the Balakrishna said, "We are demanding a raise in the pay scale since 2017 but the government didn't respond to our demand till date."
He added that they had staged a similar protest last month as well, but stressed that this time they will "not stop the strike" until their demands are met.
The Coordinator, however, assured that the strike won't affect the patients admitted in the hospital.
On July 17, a similar protest was observed by the doctors in several hospitals in Chennai, including Apollo Hospitals, SIMS Hospitals, Gleneagles Global and Fortis Malar.
