Food delivery boy allegedly gropes woman, B'luru police nab accused in 48 hours

A food-delivery boy who allegedly touched a woman inappropriately in Koramangala, Bengaluru was nabbed by the police in 48 hours.

Bengaluru: Police have arrested a food delivery boy for allegedly groping a woman inappropriately in the city's Koramangala area on May 31 night.

Police launched an investigation after the victim called the police control room and registered a complaint at the Koramangala Police Station.

According to the police, the accused Arun Kumar and his brother are employees of a food delivery firm headquartered in Bengaluru.

As there were many deliveries during the lockdown, his brother used to deliver food in the morning, while Arun used to deliver in the night.

On the night of May 31, the accused, who was on his way to deliver food in Koramangala, targeted a North Indian girl and touched her back inappropriately.

The victim, terrified by the act, immediately dialed the police control room and filed a complaint.

On the instructions of Madiwala ACP Sudhir Hegde, a team led by PSI Puttaswamy scoured through 40 CCTVs and 80 bikes. A technical investigation revealed that the accused was using a gearless scooter.

Having contacted the food delivery firm, police learnt that 80 bikes travelled in that area.

Upon thorough inspection, they found the bike belonged to the accused's elder brother. Police took Arun's brother into custody and post interrogation it was revealed that Arun had committed the act.

Based on the video footage and gathered evidence, the accused was arrested by the police within 48 hours.

Upon further investigation, it is learnt that Arun had committed the same act with 3-4 girls in past one month.

Arun even confessed that he used to derive psychological pleasure by touching the back of women.
