Bellary (Karnataka): A wild bear strayed into the premises of the New Dental College in VIMS Hospital (Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences) of Bellary district last night at around 10 PM. The bear tried to attack a home guard which led to a panic. However, the home guard managed to escape from the clutches of the bear and locked himself inside a restroom.
On being informed, police reached the spot and inspected the premises of the college but they did not find the bear, it is suspected that the bear might be hiding inside the bushes, beside the college. The forest and police officials are conducting a search and rescue operation. They have set up nets and equipment to trap the animal once it emerges from the hiding.
