Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh): Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced the results of cities which got 5-star rating for being 'garbage-free'.

In the result Chhattisgarh's Ambikapur was among the cities to get 5-star rating. Rajkot, Surat, Mysore, Indore and Navi Mumbai are too among the '5-star garbage-free cities'.

Karnal, New Delhi, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Chandigarh, Bhilai Nagar, Ahmedabad are among ''three-star garbage free rating''.

Puri extended the wishes to the cities who got a five-star rating and said it came at a time when the entire world, including India, are reeling under the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

"It was the intention of my senior colleagues and others to declare the result of star rating of garbage-free cities much earlier but we decided to postpone because we wanted at least some degree of opening to take place and we thought the timing is correct," Puri said.

It is to be noted that India's first garbage cafe was opened in Ambikapur last year. The garbage cafe was inaugurated by the state Health Minister T.S Singhdev.

What is interesting about the cafe is that, if you bring half a kilogram of plastic you will get to eat breakfast in return. And for lunch you have to being 1 kg of plastic. It has given a boost to the cleanliness drive.
