Kolkata: Industrialist Gautam Adani has promised that his corporation, Adani Group, will create more than 25,000 jobs in West Bengal and will invest Rs 10,000 crore over the next decade at the sixth Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2022 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Newtown on Wednesday. Industrialists from India and abroad were present alongside Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankar on the first day of the investor summit.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the Adani Group praised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and spoke about the glorious history of West Bengal. He also quoted Gopalkrishna Gokhale and said "what Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow". The Adani Group chairman highlighted West Bengal's freedom struggle, women empowerment, and contributions of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda, and Rabindranath Tagore.

Highlighting the group's plans for years to come, Adani said he planned to bring into Bengal the green energy value chain Adani group. The current plans span from the already proposed Tajpur deep-sea port to undersea cables, data centers, and logistics parks. "What I am committing to bring to Bengal is the best of the Adani Group our expertise in infrastructure, our speed of execution, our experience, and our focus on building bigger and better. What I am committing to bring is the technology and scale that will help recalibrate infrastructure in Bengal," Adani further said. This marked the first time for the noted industrialist to participate in the BGBS (Bengal Global Business Summit).
According to him, no other state has empowered so many women as West Bengal and that trend is being carried forward by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Adani has also praised various social projects created during Mamata Banerjee's tenure. The industrialist said that his organization wanted to restructure West Bengal using skills and technology.
