New Delhi: As per the official data released Friday rise in whole sale prices indicated by Wholesale Price Index (WPI) rose 3.1% in January 2020 compared to the prices in January 2019.
While the December 2019 WPI was at 2.59%, rise in wholesale prices in January 2019 was at 2.76%.

In January 2020, most appreciation was seen in ‘food articles’ segment at 11.51% on the back of high rise in prices of pulses, potato, onion and vegetables.
For manufactured products, which have a combined weight of 64.23 per cent in the WPI index, the index rose by 0.4 per cent to 118.5 from 118 for the previous month.
The current rise in WPI is the highest in last nine months. In April 2019, the WPI rose 3.24%.
In the recently released consumer index was at 7.59% in January 2020, highest since May 2014, when it was 8.33 per cent.
