New Delhi: On February 10, 2019 a one day long tour Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Hubli in Karnataka, Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and unveiled several development projects in these States.

  1. PM Modi unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of foundation stone of Indian Institute of Technology –Dharwad and Indian Institute of Information Technology –Dharwad
  2. City Gas Distribution Project at Dharwad was dedicated to the nation on this occasion
  3. To ensure Energy Security, 1.5 MMT Mangalore Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) facility and 2.5 MMT Padur SPR facility of ISPRL were also dedicated to the nation
  4. Prime Minister Modi also dedicated Doubling of 18 km long Chikjajur-Mayakonda Section, to the nation. Chikjajur-Mayakonda Section is a part of 190 km long Hubli – Chikjajur Doubling project and is located on Bengaluru – Hubballi route of South Western Railway. Doubling will increase the line capacity of this important route connecting Bengaluru to Hubballi, Belagavi, Goa, Pune and Mumbai, resulting in faster movement of trains

  1. Laid foundation stone for Employees’ State Insurance Corporation’s (ESIC) Multi speciality Hospital at Tiruppur
  2. All 45 km of Phase I of Chennai Metro becomes operational
  3. He dedicated to the nation, ESIC Hospital Chennai. This 470-bedded hospital with state of art facilities will provide quality treatment on all disciplines of medicine
  4. PM also laid foundation stone for a new integrated building at Trichy Airport and for the modernization of Chennai airport. With the new integrated Terminal building in Trichy, the airport can handle 3.63 million passengers per annum on full capacity and 2,900 passengers at peak hour with provision for expansion. Chennai airport will be modernized with provision of e gates, biometric based passenger screening systems, various other features and will decongest the existing international departure terminal
  5. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL’s) Ennore Coastal Terminal was dedicated to the nation on this occasion. It will be a bigger and better alternative to its Tondiarpet facility. With this terminal in place, products can be moved along the coast from Kochi, thereby also reducing the cost of movement by road

  1. In a boost to energy security of the country, PM dedicated to the nation, 1.33 MMT Visakhapatnam Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) facility of Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited (ISPRL). The cost of the Project is Rs. 1125 crore. The Facility has the largest underground storage compartment in the country
  2. He laid the foundation stone for setting up Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd (BPCL) Coastal Installation Project at Krishnapatnam. The estimated cost of the project, spread over 100 acres is Rs. 580 crore. Project will be commissioned by November 2020
  3. Giving major push to the Gas Based Economy, PM also dedicated to the nation, ONGC’s S1 Vasishta development project located in the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Offshore Basin in Andhra Pradesh. The cost of the Project is about Rs.5,700 crore. This project will contribute significantly in realising PM’s vision of reducing oil imports by 10% by 2020
