Government sacks 15 senior IRS officers

All these 15 Officers will be paid a sum equivalent to the pay and allowances for a period of three months calculated at the same rate at a reach they are supposed to be withdrawing then (Pay & Allowances) immediately before their retirement.

Government compulsorily retires 15 IRS officers

New Delhi: Within days of showing the door to a dozen senior Income Tax officials for alleged charges of misconduct, the axe has now fallen on 15 senior revenue officials dealing with indirect taxes on charges ranging from demanding a bribe, criminal conspiracy to financial impropriety.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (j) of Rule 56 of the Fundamental Rules, the President of India has retired 15 officers of Indian Revenue Service (IRS)(C&CE) in public interest with immediate effect on completing 50 years of age. These Officers are of the rank of Principal Commissioner, Commissioner, Addl. Commissioner, Dy. Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner etc.

All these 15 Officers will be paid a sum equivalent to the pay and allowances for a period of three months calculated at the same rate at a reach they are supposed to be withdrawing then (Pay & Allowances) immediately before their retirement.

A separate Order in each case to that effect has been issued today by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

This is yet another major clean-up drive by the Modi government after coming to power for the second consecutive term last month.

The details of these Officers are as follows:

  • Anup Kumar Srivastava presently posted as Principal ADG, Delhi Zonal Unit at DG(Audit), New Delhi
  • Atul Dikshit, Commissioner, presently under suspension
  • Sansar Chand, Commissioner, presently posted as Commissioner(AR), CESTAT, Kolkata
  • Gaddala Sree Harsha, Commissioner, presently posted as Commissioner, DGPM, Chennai
  • Vinay Brij Singh, Commissioner, presently under suspension
  • Ashok Ratilal Mahida, Additional Commissioner, presently posted at DG (Systems), Kolkata
  • Virendra Kuma Agarwal, Additional Commissioner, posted at Nagpur GST Zone
  • Amresh Jain, Deputy Commissioner, posted in Delhi GST Zone
  • Nalin Kumar, Joint Commissioner, presently under suspension
  • Surendra Singh Pabana, Assistant Commissioner, presently under suspension
  • Surendra Singh Bisht presently posted as Assistant Commissioner at Bhubaneshwar GST Zone
  • Vinod Kumar Sanga, Assistant Commissioner, presently posted in Mumbai Customs Zone-III
  • Raju Sekar, Additional Commissioner, presently posted in Vizag GST Zone
  • Ashok Kumar Aswal, Deputy Commissioner, presently posted in Directorate of Logistics, New Delhi
  • Mohd Altaf presently posted as Assistant Commissioner (AR), Allahabad
