Hyderabad: Food Corporation of India is responsible for the storage of food grains in India. FCI stores food grains to meet the requirements of Public Distribution System and Other Welfare Schemes undertaken by the Government of India. It also maintains buffer stock for ensuring food security of the country.
As on December 31, 2020, the total storage capacity available with Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the State Agencies (both owned and hired capacity) is 819.19 LMT (Lakh Metric Tonnes) against the total stocks of 529.59 LMT (wheat and rice).
