Business Desk, ETV Bharat: E-commerce giants in India have launched their annual online shopping festival today and are battling hard to grab a share of one of the world’s largest consumer markets.
Players like Flipkart, Amazon and Paytm Mall have gone live with their sale from midnight and are offering great discounts and offers on products across top categories such as mobiles, TVs, kitchen appliances, fashion, beauty, home decor, furniture, grocery, baby products and more.
Let’s take a quick look at what’s on offer for consumers on these shopping websites.
Flipkart
Flipkart’s Big Billion Days (BBD) sale began from midnight of 16 October and would run until 21 October.
Now in its seventh year, BBD has become Flipkart’s biggest annual flagship event over the years. It promises customers a wide range of products with great value propositions, while providing growth opportunities to MSMEs and sellers across the country.
This year, Flipkart has tied up with various popular brands for launches during the sale period. Google Pixel products and accessories will be exclusively available on Flipkart during BBD. Also, Nokia’s range of smart TVs will make their debut during the sale.
Flipkart is also offering assured cashback for consumers paying through Paytm wallet and Paytm UPI. Besides that, customers can avail additional 10% instant discount if they pay through State Bank of India (SBI) debit and credit cards. No-cost EMI option is also available with Bajaj Finserv EMI cards, and leading bank credit and debit cards.
Notably, Flipkart Group’s fashion apparel marketplace Myntra is also holding its ‘Big Fashion Festival’ from 16 October to 22 October. The retailer is offering nine lakh styles from a collection of over 5,000 brands, it said in a statement.
Amazon
Amazon’s Great Indian Festival is starting tomorrow from 17 October 2020. But Prime members are now getting early access starting today, i.e. 16 October 2020.
The sale is likely to be a month-long affair, as indicated by the retailer. “With a month-long celebration, our aim is to help customers find everything they need during the festive season and deliver it safely to them,” an Amazon India spokesperson told media houses earlier this month.
Amazon said it is offering crores of products from 5 lakh+ sellers to customers along with over 1,100 new product launches from top brands.
There are over 6,000 deals on consumer electronics and accessories, with up to Rs 30,000 off on laptops, up to 70% off on headphones and up to 60% off on camera devices. Latest smartphones from top brands are available with up to 40% discount. Customers can also avail up to 50% off on Amazon Devices like Echo, Fire TV and Kindle.
Amazon said that its festive deal of the year is iPhone 11 being available at only Rs 47,999.
Also, customers are getting an additional 10% instant discount with HDFC Bank debit and credit cards, and no-cost EMI option other credit and debit cards.
Paytm Mall
Paytm Mall ‘Maha Shopping Festival’ is happening from 16 October to 23 October. The eight-day sale will see participation of over 5,500 brands.
A company statement said that products from MSMEs, ‘Made in India’ brands, government-run emporiums along with international fashion, lifestyle, electronics and home categories brands will be a part of the sale this year.
The e-retailer added it will offer discounts of up to 80% on mobiles and accessories, electronics, fashion, home and kitchen essentials, as well as give an additional Paytm cashback of up to 20% on all products.
Besides that, ICICI Bank debit and credit card holders are getting extra 10% cashback on their purchases.
