Maruti Suzuki India has reported 1.7 per cent increase in sales in November as compared to last year while Toyota Kirloskar and Bajaj Auto reported 2.4 per cent increase and 5 per cent increase respectively.

New Delhi: Due to the festive season, November month has seen an increase in sales in all the automobile companies like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar, Bajaj Auto and many more.

Maruti Suzuki sales increase 1.7 pc to 1,53,223 units in Nov

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Tuesday reported a 1.7 per cent increase in sales to 1,53,223 units in November.

The company had sold 1,50,630 units in November last year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.

Domestic sales increased marginally to 1,44,219 units last month as against 1,43,686 units in November 2019, it added.

Sales of mini cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, declined by 15.1 per cent to 22,339 units as compared to 26,306 in the same month last year.

Similarly, sales of compact segment, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, declined by 1.8 per cent to 76,630 units as against 78,013 cars in November last year.

Sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz, however, increased by 29.1 per cent to 1,870 units as compared with 1,448 in November 2019.

Similarly, utility vehicle sales, including Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga, rose 2.4 per cent to 23,753 units compared to 23,204 in the year-ago month, MSI said.

Exports in November were up 29.7 per cent at 9,004 units as against 6,944 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said.

Toyota Kirloskar logs 2.4 pc rise in November sales

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Tuesday reported a 2.4 per cent increase in its domestic sales to 8,508 units in November.

The Japanese automaker had sold 8,312 units in the domestic market in November 2019.

"The company has been witnessing a gradual yet steady recovery owing to factors such as pent up and festive season demand as well as the consolidation of the market at the lower end due to increasing preference for personal mobility amongst customers," TKM Senior Vice President Sales and Service Naveen Soni said in a statement.

An array of attractive offers and finance schemes have also helped the company to maintain momentum, thereby helping it achieve growth over wholesales when compared to the corresponding period last year, he added.

In terms of festive season demand and sales, the company has fared well, registering a 10-13 per cent increase in customer orders and 12 per cent surge in retail sales against the festive period in 2019, Soni said.

"However, owing to the illegal strike called upon by the members of TKM union, the company was forced to declare a lockout at the factory which has impacted our production and wholesale numbers," he noted.

Having said that, the automaker has been able to fulfil the market demand with the stock already available, both at the factory as well as at the dealer's end, Soni said.

"We are trying our best to ensure that customer orders are prioritised by channelising the available resources," he added.

Soni said the new Innova Crysta has received a tremendous response from customers.

Its predecessor, the first generation Innova Crysta has sold close to 3 lakh units since its launch in 2016 in India, he noted.

Mahindra total sales up 4 pc in November

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Tuesday reported a 3.62 per cent rise in total sales at 42,731 units in November.

The company had sold 41,235 units in the same month last year, M&M said in a statement.

In the domestic market, passenger vehicle sales were up 24 per cent to 18,212 units last month compared to 14,637 units in November 2019.

In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 22,883 vehicles in the domestic market last month as against 23,977 units in November 2019, a drop of 4.5 per cent.

Exports dropped by 38 per cent to 1,636 units as against 2,621 units in the year-ago month.

"At Mahindra we are happy to achieve strong double-digit growth in SUVs during the month of November, aided by a robust festive demand for all our products. Given strong rural growth and signs of improvement in economic activities, we are hopeful to see this positive momentum continue post the festive season,” M&M Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Veejay Ram Nakra said.

TVS Motor total sales rise 21 pc to 3,22,709 units in Nov

TVS Motor Company on Tuesday reported a 21 per cent surge in total sales to 3,22,709 units in November.

The company had sold a total of 2,66,582 units in November last year, TVS Motor Co said in a statement.

Last month, the total two-wheeler sales grew 25 per cent to 3,11,519 units as against 2,49,350 in the year-ago period.

The domestic two-wheeler sales increased 30 per cent to 2,47,789 units, compared to 1,91,222 in November 2019, it added.

Motorcycle sales stood at 1,33,531 units in November against 1,05,963 units in the same month last year, a growth of 26 per cent.

Scooter sales grew 26 per cent to 1,06,196 units last month from 84,169 in November 2019, the company said.

Three-wheeler sales, however, declined to 11,190 units last month as compared to 17,232 in November last year.

The company's total exports stood at 74,074 units last month. It was 74,060 units in November 2019.

Yamaha reports 35 pc sales growth in November

Yamaha Motor India on Tuesday reported a 35 per cent increase in sales in November at 53,208 units as compared with 39,406 units in the same month last year.

The company has been reporting growth in its sales volumes consecutively over the past four months as compared with the same year-ago period following the lifting of the COVID-led lockdown, the two wheeler maker said in a statement.

With a strong focus in 2020, Yamaha has registered a 4.3 per cent growth in July (as against July 2019), 14.8 per cent growth in August, 17 per cent growth in September and 31 per cent growth in October 2020 as compared to October 2019, it added.

"The company expects overall demand to grow in 2021 owing to a varied demand of personal mobility," the company said.

Kia Motors reports 50 pc rise in Nov sales

Kia Motors India on Tuesday reported a 50.1 per cent increase in wholesales to 21,022 units in November.

The company had sold 14,005 units of Seltos in November 2019.

The automaker dominated the compact SUV market in the country with sales of 11,417 units of Sonet last month, Kia Motors India said in a statement.

Seltos too maintained its positive run in the market with 9,205 units last month, it added.

"Since the COVID-19 outbreak, we were quite hopeful about the festive month and the results are overwhelming. Not only urban, but customers from tier II, III, and IV markets too are acknowledging the need for personal mobility to maintain personal safety," Kia Motors India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kookhyun Shim said.

While there is still a lot of uncertainty in the market due to the pandemic, the overall consumer sentiment has significantly improved and the company is all prepared to offer a safe and hassle-free ownership experience to customers, he added.

"We are expecting the market sentiment to improve more in coming months and we are confident that we will be able to continue this positive momentum in future as well," Shim said.

With the improved sentiment and encouraging sales, Kia is looking to increase its growth trajectory and cement its position as one of the top car manufacturers in the country, the automaker said.

With two of the best-performing SUVs in the Indian market and witnessing constant growth post opening up of the economy in May, Kia Motors India is well equipped to lure more customers to the Kia family, it added.

With its offerings in India, the company has been able to break the clutter and offer Indian consumers what has been missing in the current landscape, it noted.

Despite challenging conditions caused by COVID-19 disruptions, the automaker has not only delivered the vehicles as per promised timelines, but has also ensured uninterrupted production at its Anantapur plant to meet the market demand, it added.

Tata Motors vehicle sales up 21 pc to 49,650 units in Nov

Tata Motors on Tuesday said its total vehicles sales (domestic and international) grew 21 per cent in November to 49,650 units.

The company had sold 41,124 units in the same month last year.

Total domestic sales increased 26 per cent to 47,859 vehicles in the previous month, from 30,8057 units sold in November 2019, Tata Motors said in a statement.

Domestic passenger vehicles sales climbed 108 per cent to 21,641 units as compared to 10,400 units in the year-ago month.

However, total commercial vehicle sales (including exports) declined 9 per cent to 27,982 units in November 2020 as against 30,588 units earlier.

Domestic commercial vehicles sales dipped 5 per cent to 26,218 units in November this year, from 27,657 vehicles sold in the same month of 2019, the statement said.

Honda posts 55 pc rise in sales in November at 9,990 units

Honda Cars India on Tuesday reported a 55 per cent increase in domestic sales at 9,990 units in November.

The company had sold 6,459 units in the domestic market in November 2019, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.

Exports stood at 31 units last month, it added.

"The festive season this year was good for us with sales improving by 55 per cent in November and contributing to overall industry growth.

"With new and refreshed model line-up along with lucrative offers for consumers, we were able to leverage festive demand and register good sales," HCIL Senior Vice President and Director (Marketing & Sales) Rajesh Goel said.

While the Amaze continues to show strong market performance, the all new City has been fuelling the demand in the mid-size sedan segment since its launch and maintaining its leadership position month after month, he added.

"Although there are continuing challenges of pandemic and its impact on overall consumer sentiment, the rise in personal mobility is expected to help us sustain our sales momentum during the rest of fiscal year," Goel said.

Bajaj Auto sales rise 5 pc to 4,22,240 units in Nov

Bajaj Auto on Tuesday reported a 5 per cent increase in total sales to 4,22,240 units in November this year.

The company had sold 4,03,223 units in the same month a year ago.

Domestic sales in November this year stood at 1,98,933 units as against 2,07,775 units, a decline of 4 per cent, Bajaj Auto said in a BSE filing.

Total motorcycle sales rose 12 per cent to 3,84,993 units, compared to 3,43,446 units sold in November last year.

Total commercial vehicle sales dropped 38 per cent to 37,247 units as against 59,777 in the same month last year, the company said.

Exports in November increased 14 per cent to 2,23,307 units over 1,95,448 units in the corresponding month last year, it added.

Ashok Leyland sales up 5 pc in November to 10,659 units

Hinduja Group flagship firm Ashok Leyland on Tuesday reported 5 per cent increase in total commercial vehicle sales at 10,659 units in November.

The company had sold 10,175 units in the same month last year, Ashok Leyland said in a regulatory filing.

Domestic sales increased 4 per cent to 9,727 units as against 9,377 units in November 2019, it added.

Total heavy and medium commercial vehicle sales were down 14 per cent at 5,114 units as compared to 5,966 units in the year-ago month, the company said.

Light commercial vehicles sales were, however, up by 32 per cent at 5,545 units as compared to 4,209 units in November last year, the filing added.

MG Motor reports best ever monthly sales of 4,163 units in Nov

MG Motor India on Tuesday said it has reported its highest-ever retail sales in the country last month.

The automaker, a wholly-owned arm of China's SAIC Motor Corp, sold 4,163 units last month, up 28.5 per cent as compared to 3,239 in November 2019.

The company retailed 3,426 units of Hector, 627 units of Gloster and 110 units of ZS EV last month, MG Motor India said in a statement.

"Buoyed by continued festival demand and the sustained demand for the Hector and ZS EV alongside the successful launch of the Gloster, we have recorded 28.5 per cent growth in November 2020 vis-a-vis the last year. We expect the momentum to continue in December and expect to close this year on a strong note," MG Motor India Director Sales Rakesh Sidana said.

Escorts Agri Machinery sales surge 33 pc in Nov

Farm equipment manufacturer Escorts Agri Machinery on Tuesday reported a 33 per cent rise in tractor sales to 10,165 units for November 2020.

The company had sold 7,642 tractor units in November last year.

Domestic tractor sales increased 30.9 per cent to 9,662 units, against 7,379 sold in November 2019.

"The dealer and depot stocks continue to be low. Stock correction in the coming months would continue to push the industry upwards, supported by healthy water reservoir levels and a good harvest," Escorts Agri Machinery said in a regulatory filing.

The company said the supply chain is still volatile but should improve going forward.

"We have taken a price increase this month to pass on the inflation in the commodity prices," the company added.

Tractor export in November 2020 stood at 503 units, against 263 in the same month last year.

Hyundai reports 2 pc decline in total sales in November at 59,200 units

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Tuesday reported a 2.1 per cent decline in total sales at 59,200 units for November.

The company had sold 60,500 units in November last year.

Domestic sales were up 9.4 per cent to 48,800 units as against 44,600 units in November 2019, the company said in a statement.

Exports, however, declined by 34.6 per cent to 10,400 units as compared with 15,900 units in November last year, it added.

“The recently introduced all-new i20 has helped carry forward the festive momentum even in the post Diwali period for the company and facilitated a sales growth of 9.4 per cent in November over the same period last year," HMIL Director (Sales, Marketing & Service) Tarun Garg said.

The automaker would continue its efforts towards driving customer delight through innovative solutions thereby positively contributing towards the sustained growth of the domestic industry and economy, he added.
