Wife of former Prez Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma becomes oldest COVID survivor

The 93-year-old Vimala Sharma became the oldest to have recovered from the virus in Delhi. She is the wife of former President of India Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma.

New Delhi: Days after testing positive for COVID-19 disease, Vimala Sharma, wife of former President of India Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma was discharged from AIIMS trauma centre on Thursday evening. She is 93-year-old. Vimala is among the oldest to have recovered from the virus in the national capital.

"The weirdest thing about this disease is that you are not allowed to meet your relative, who is suffering from COVID-19. I spoke to her twice during her entire stay," says son Ashutosh Dayal Sharma.

Ashutosh further said that her mother was admitted to the hospital for almost 18 days, but it is important for the family and patient not to lose hope during this time.
