Uttarkashi: The story of Padmashri Bachendri Pal's life is no less than the tale of a Bollywood flick. The way a reel hero is able to achieve big fighting all odds, Pal's story too bears a similar tone. She shared her story of struggling days, with the students of Rajkiya Inter-college in Bhankoli, which eventually changed her whole life.
Addressing the students, Bachendri Pal said, "after completing BA, I wanted to pursue an MA from Dehradun itself. But my family was not financially strong and I was quite disappointed about the situation. Then one day my father asked me to pursue an MA from Dehradun, but he did not tell me where the money would come from."

"Later I came to know that my mother had sold her 'Temanya' (mangal sutra). This sacrifice of my mother changed my whole life." Pal further added.

Bachendri Pal said that when she got passionate about mountaineering, she used to climb-up to Nakuri from Renuka Temple. During the climb, she used to keep a stone near the temple and used to bring grass from there while returning. So, her mother does not feel that her daughter is wasting her time. Pal also said that when she started climbing the mountain her mother was quite comprehensive that what would people say?

"My mother was worried of people's opinion that what was I doing even after completing MA." she added. Bachendri Pal further said that she convinced her mother at that time and told her not to worry about people's opinion. The day will come when these people would congratulate me and that's what happens these days.
