Ranchi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ranchi on Thursday night to participate in a programme marking International Yoga Day on Friday.
He was received by Jharkhand Chief minister Raghubar Das at the Birsa Munda Airport.
After spending the night at the Raj Bhawan, the Prime Minister will attend the programme at Prabhat Tara ground of Ranchi on Friday morning.
Around 40,000 people are expected to participate in the event, for which elaborate security arrangements have been made across the city.
The Centre along with the state governments is organising various yoga programmes on June 21 across the country.
The idea of the International Day of Yoga was first proposed by PM Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014.
