New Delhi: Director, media and communication, railway board Rajesh Bajpai on Saturday signed a contract to introduce massage services on the running train for the first time in the Indian Railway history.
"This is the first time that such a contract has been signed," said Rajesh Bajpai. The massage services not only provide comfort to the passengers on running trains but also increases the revenue. Railways earn an additional revenue of Rs 20 lakh annually and an estimated increase of Rs 90 lakh per year through the additional sale of tickets from about 20,000 passengers who will be the service providers.
This proposal was from the Ratlam division of Western railway Zone and The facility will be provided in 39 trains departing from Indore, said a railway official. The service will be available for Rs 100 each for a foot massage and head massage.
This scheme is part of the railways' scheme whereby zones and divisions have been asked to come out with new and innovative ideas to generate non-fare revenue for the national transporter.
