'King of Fruits' gets political flavours in Lucknow's Mango Festival

A two-day Mango Festival ended on Sunday, at Lucknow's Indira Gandhi Pratishthaan. Among the mangoes, the 'Modi Mango' had attracted people to the exhibition. During the closing ceremony of the festival, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Ram Naik praised the state and the farmers for producing delicious mangoes.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Hailing from UP's Shravasti district, 'Modi Mango' - a special variety named after the Prime Minister, attracted large crowds to the two-day 'Mango Festival' at Lucknow's Indira Gandhi Pratishthaan, which ended on Sunday.

About 700 varieties of mangoes were showcased at the exhibition, during which 2896 samples (of mangoes) were displayed by 710 participants.

'Modi Mango' attracted more visitors to the festival, remarked the organisers.

In addition to this, Dashhari, Chausa, Husnara, Langda and other varieties were on display by mango growers from Malihabad, Saharanpur, Meerut and other cities of Uttar Pradesh.

During the closing ceremony of the festival, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Ram Naik praised the state's farmers for producing such delicious mangoes.

The festival was organised by the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing and Department of Forests.

About 700 varieties of mangoes were kept for exhibition where 2,896 samples of mangoes were displayed by 710 participants. The festival was inaugurated by the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing Department and Forest Minister Dara Singh Chauhan. On the occasion of the closing ceremony of the festival, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Ram Naik praised UP for producing delicious mangoes. With Dashhari, Chausa, Husnara, Langda and other varieties on display by mango growers from Malihabad, Saharanpur, Meerut and other cities of UP, 'Modi mango' from Shravasti named after PM Narendra Modi attracted scores of Lucknowites to the event.
