K'taka: Ex-mayor's followers thrash family over old dispute

Followers of Hubli Dharwad municipality's former mayor Venkatesh Shastri attacked a family near Thoravi Hakkala over an old dispute. The whole incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the area. However, police have released the accused.

Hubli (Karnataka): Followers of Hubli Dharwad municipality's former mayor Venkatesh Shastri attacked members of a family over an old rivalry. The incident took place near Thoravi Hakkala here on Saturday.

Four members of the Devendrappa family were severely injured in the attack and are undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital.

The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the area.

However, the Kamaripet police released the accused, Venkatesh, even after having evidence against them due to his contacts with high profie politicians.

Venkatesh is a close friend of former deputy CM Jagadish Shetter.
