12 deers die after drinking poisonous water

In Keregaon area of Chhattisgarh, twelve deers died after drinking poisonous water. Forest department officials reached on spot after getting informed by the villagers. Police have initiated an investigation in the matter.

Dhamtari: Twelve deers died after drinking poisonous water in the Keregaon area of Chhattisgarh on Saturday. It is said that the rainwater, which got accumulated in the Murum mine of Mohalai forest, was poisoned by the poachers.

Villagers informed the forest department instantly about the incident. The forest department officials arrived on the spot and the bodies of the deers were sent for the post-mortem.

Water samples from the mine have been sent for investigation. Forest department, along with the local police, is further investigating the matter.

It is to be noted that there have been several instances when a large consignment of deers' skins and horns have been found in Dhamtari. Involvement of a poachers' gang is being speculated in the incident.
