Police firing on CAB protestors: Death toll rises to 3

Guwahati: At least three persons died due to bullet injuries on Thursday after police opened fire on protesters in Assam's Guwahati.

An official of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital told media that one person was "brought dead" and another succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

According to sources, Dipanjal Das, believed to be an employee of Army canteen was injured in police firing in Lasithnagar of Guwahati. 

Later, he succumbed to injuries while taking treatment in Guwahati medical college hospital.

The other two protestors have died in Hatigaon area of Guhawati.

The state has been on edge as thousands of angry protesters came out on streets defying curfew, thumbing their nose at Army contingents staging flag marches, and clashing with police across cities.

Das belongs to 'Six Mile' area.
