New Delhi: The Congress party took a jibe at the Central Government alleging it of "disrupting" the Parliament proceedings by not letting the Opposition parties to speak in the house and now using those disruptions as an "excuse" to curtail the remaining monsoon session.

This comes after some reports suggested that the government is "seriously considering the curtailment of monsoon session" in view of the continuous protests of the Opposition over Pegasus row.

Congress MP and senior spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi while addressing a presser

While replying to a question of ETV Bharat, Congress MP and senior spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, "My direct charge is that you, the government, have stopped the session and you are now possibly thinking of curtailing a stopped session. Make your own conclusions now."

"You made sure that for the 9-10 days, it will not function, and now by finding the first fault as an excuse to do the second fault, namely curtail it. So your obstinacy, you will not agree to have a discussion on the most important issue, Pegasus," he further alleged.

The opposition has been continuously raising the demand for a discussion over the Pegasus matter in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. However, the government still has not agreed to their demand.

Singhvi asserted, "There is no question of Home Minister sitting in the Parliament because they are not even agreeing to have any discussion. You constantly keep on not answering these two core questions, did you directly or indirectly in any form or manner, through any government agency acquire Pegasus? The answer has to be in yes or no. The second question is if you did acquire it, did you use it against persons?"

The Monsoon Session which began on July 19, was to go until August 13.

The Congress MP also alleged that the Central government has much to hide and that it is why they know if the debate would occur, they won't be able to give answers to the Opposition.
