Morbi (Gujarat): In today's age, women have surpassed men in all fields. From flying planes to protecting the country at the border, there is no area left where women have not made achievements through their skills and hard work. It may be mentioned that at a time when global warming is becoming a serious problem not only for India but for the entire world, women are making an important contribution in preventing pollution by making e-bikes at an e-bike manufacturing company in Morbi district of Gujarat.

"This is a challenging job for women, yet we have chosen this. Doing a challenging job creates an image and today's women are near as good as men, and it has been proved by the women here" Jainika Chavda, a woman employee on duty, told ETV Bharat.

Women from all over Saurashtra come to the e-bike factory for employment and 'Nari Shakti' (power of women) is contributing to the fight against pollution.

Jaysukh Patel, managing director of a well-known clock company in Morbi, who he visits China frequently for business purposes, once visited an electric vehicle factory there. He found that the operating cost of these e-vehicles was cheaper than those running on petrol and diesel. These e-vehicles also also help prevent pollution.

Hence, he decided to set up an e-bike factory at Samakhiyali in 2006-07 at a cost of Rs 150 crore and produced 200 to 300 bikes a month. The production is now being scaled up in view of the the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel. Now, the company is making and selling 1,200 to 2,000 bikes per month. The country will also benefit from declining petrol-diesel imports if e-bikes gain in popularity.

Apart from giving employment opportunities to women, the company is also making invaluable contributions to preventing pollution and solving the problem of global warming.
