WB: 30 crude bombs recovered from Gaya bound passenger bus

West Bengal police in a joint operation with the army recovered at least 30 crude bombs from a bus at Kulti in West Bengal's West Burdwan district late Tuesday night. The bus was en route to Bihar's Gaya.

Kolkata (West Bengal): West Bengal police in a joint operation with the army recovered at least 30 crude bombs from a bus at Kulti in West Bengal's West Burdwan district late Tuesday night. The bus was en route to Bihar's Gaya. Tipped by sources, a joint team of army and police at Duburdi Check-post at the West Bengal- Jharkhand border seized the bombs. Three passengers of the bus have been detained for questioning.

It is learnt that the bus started from Babughat bus depot in central Kolkata on Tuesday. Indian Army's Pangarh base received the information about the bombs following which they chased the bus. At Duburdi check-post the bus was stopped by a joint team of army jawans and police personnel from the local Kulti station.

The bus was then taken to the nearby Chowringhee police outpost. After questioning all the passengers throughout the night, three passengers were detained for further questioning. The remaining passengers were left off on Wednesday morning.

The police recovered a piece of paper from the bus, where it was written that the bombs were meant for a Jharkhand- resident, Safi Mohammad Bhai. The names of two residents of Kolkata were also written on the paper. Apart from that a code word "12461" was also written there.

The bombs recovered were all crude bombs, with each priced at Rs 1,000. An advance of Rs 5,000 was also paid for these bombs, as was written in the paper. The police are investigating the matter further.
