Dehradun: Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj called upon Nepal ambassador to India Nilamber Acharya and deputy chief of mission (DCM) Ram Prasad Subedi to discuss ways to strengthen ties between two countries. The two leaders discussed Indo-Nepal relations, mutual harmony, advancing cooperation and the Pancheshwar dam.
The minister took to his official Twitter handle to inform about the meeting.
Maharaj said that the open border of India-Nepal has facilitated the movement of the people of both countries.
"People from both the countries share affable and warm relations and India and Nepal have a relation of Roti-Beti," he added.

The BJP leader also said that Nepal is an important trade partner of India and countries share friendly relations due to the geographical, historical, cultural and economic relations that have been going on for centuries.
"India and Nepal share similar ties in the context of Hinduism and Buddhism. The two countries share a common border of more than 1850 km, connecting the five Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand," he said.

Maharaj said, "The plan of the Ramayana Circuit is a symbol of the strong cultural and religious ties of the two countries. Therefore it is necessary that the railway line between Lumbini (Nepal) to Gorakhpur (India) and from Janakpur (Nepal) to Ayodhya (India) should be expanded."
He also said that the two countries must take steps to boost tourism and must engage in participation through mutual cooperation.
"India is an important trade partner in various development schemes in Nepal including Pancheshwar Dam. Therefore, it is necessary that with mutual friendship and cooperation, we should move forward with goodwill regarding various development schemes," he said.
