New Delhi: On the last day of his three-day visit, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat met Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on Tuesday. He requested Shekhawat to clear the proposal for a scheme for six sewage treatment plants and sewer lines in the state, the cost of which is estimated to be Rs 228 crore 40 lakh.
Rawat also sought approval for the construction of 8 snan and Moksha Ghat (estimated cost Rs. 22 crore 04 lakh) on Ganga and its tributaries in Uttarakhand under Namami Gange.
At the request of the Chief Minister, the Union Minister assured that the cabinet clearance on the Lakhwar project and the agreement between the states on the Kisau project will also be done soon.
The Chief Minister said that under the centrally funded flood management program, 38 flood protection schemes worth Rs 1108 crore 38 lakh have been granted Techno-Economic Clearance by the Government of India in the years 2014-15 and 2015-16. Now, approval of their investment clearance is expected.
He added that that in view of the high construction cost in the mountainous areas, the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana should be increased to Rs. 4 lakh per hectare as per the current guidelines for water supply to every farm. Until this is done, the state government should be allowed to bear the cost of more than Rs 2.5 lakh per hectare.

The Chief Minister told the Union Minister that 422 new schemes worth Rs 349 crore 39 lakh have been sent to Uttarakhand under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Irrigation Scheme - Har Khet. The Chief Minister requested his approval and also gave detailed information about the progress of the Water Life Mission in the state.
The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister of all possible support from the Ministry of Water Power and said that all pending cases related to the state will be settled in a month. On this occasion, the Union Minister also presented the statue of Veer Durgadas to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also said that he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening, before which he will also meet Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and talk about various issues for the development of the state.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Monday also met Union Ministers Amit Shah, Hardeep Singh Puri and Ravi Shankar Prasad where he informed them about the relief and rescue operations in the Joshimath area.
During this, the Union Home Minister had said that the state government, central agencies and local administration worked in better coordination. The Army, ITBP, NDRF and SDRF also worked for search and rescue as well as providing relief to the disaster affected villages without delay.
The Chief Minister had also requested the Union Home Minister to set up Uttarakhand Glacier and Water Resources Research Center in the state and requested to provide one helicopter for continuous monitoring and monitoring of difficult and extremely inaccessible disaster-prone areas of the state and international borders.
