Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh DGP Mukul Goyal appeared before High Court on Thursday in connection with the death of a 16-year-old girl student at Mainpuri, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya under suspicious circumstances. Appearing before the court, the DGP informed about the action taken against ASP and DSP for being negligent in the matter. Hearing the DGP's side, the court has directed him to complete the investigation in two months and give information to the court.
In this case, along with DGP, Kanpur range IG Mohit Agarwal along with SP Mainpuri Ashok Kumar Rai as well as Special Investigating Team (SIT) members also appeared. On Wednesday, the High Court had ordered the DGP to stay in Prayagraj regarding this matter. After the order of the court, the DGP took action against the guilty policemen for their negligence and informed the court about it. The High Court has asked to present the compliance report in the next hearing of the case.

The matter was heard in the division bench of Allahabad High Court Acting Chief Justice MN Bhandari and Justice AK Ojha. During this, the court has also made many serious comments regarding the negligence of the police.
In 2019, the case was registered of a student studying in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mainpuri, who was found hanging in a suspicious condition. The mother of the deceased student alleged that she was killed and hanged. After this incident, the police neither registered a case nor took any action. The police remained reluctant even after the case was again registered in 2021. Even after the High Court's order in the matter, the Mainpuri Police did not take any action.
