Dehradun: At least four persons and 7 animals died in a massive fire that broke out in 62 hectares of forest area in the last 24 hours.
"12,000 guards & fire watchers of state forest dept deployed to douse the fire. Fire destroyed property worth Rs 37 lakhs so far," said Principal Chief Conservator.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has called an emergency meeting over the forest fire incidents in the state.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah dialled Rawat and took a stock of the situation.

Shah tweeted, "The Central government has deployed NDRF teams to douse the fire and to prevent the forest fire from spreading."
