Gwalior: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, it is important to mention the name of Gwalior as this is the place where Nathuram Godse hatched the conspiracy to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi. Gwalior being a stronghold of the Hindu Mahasabha, the names of Godse and Narayan Apte, who was part of the conspiracy, are often mentioned. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Hindu Mahasabha is organising a unique seminar in remembrance of Godse and Apte.
While programmes are being organised all over the country on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, on the contrary, the Hindu Mahasabha in Gwalior is organising a discussion on Gandhi's assassins Godse and Apte
Ravi Bhardwaj, national vice president of Hindu Mahasabha, said that the seminar would help more and more young people know about Godse.

“People all over the country now know that Nathuram Godse and Narayan Apte are the assassins of Mahatma Gandhi but very few know why he was assassinated,” Bharadwaj said. “And why Godse had to take this step. This is what we will tell the youth through this seminar.”
Godse had hatched the conspiracy in Gwalior because this has been the stronghold of the Hindu Mahasabha from the very beginning. Before killing Bapu, Godse and Apte had spent three days in the office of the Hindu Mahasabha. Godse bought a pistol here and took training on using it. After that, he got on a train here and left for Delhi where shot Bapu dead.
The Hindu Mahasabha in Gwalior still worships Godse and this is criticised by many quarters from time to time. The Hindu Mahasabha had even installed his idol after criticism from various quarters, the local administration confiscated it. However, the organisation continues to organise programmes on Godse from time to time. Saturday's seminar is also a part of this.
