Union Minister Sadananda Gowda tests Covid positive

Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers, Sadananda Gowda, has tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. Currently, he is in isolation. Taking to the Twitter he confirmed the news.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers, Sadananda Gowda, has tested positive for Covid-19, the minister informed via social media on Thursday.

"After initial symptoms of Covid-19, I got myself tested and the report came positive. I have isolated myself. I request everyone who has come in my contact to be careful and follow the protocol. Stay safe," he tweeted.

Textiles Minister Smriti Irani and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have wished Gowda a speedy recovery.

India reported 45,576 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours on Thursday morning, pushing the country's cumulative Covid tally to 89,58,483. As per Health Ministry data, the death toll rose to 1,31,578 with 585 more fatalities in the last 24 hours, a jump of 24 per cent over the previous day's figures.

The number of active cases presently stands at 4,43,303, while 83,83,602 people have recovered from the disease.
