New Delhi: Newly-appointed Union Steel Minister and JD(U) leader Ram Chandra Prasad Singh on Sunday acknowledged Bihar Cheif Minister Nitish Kumar's role in his life and said that it was because of the latter's support he could get a ministerial birth in the Union cabinet.
Speaking to the media, Singh also refuted the claims that his relations with the Bihar CM have deteriorated since his elevation as the Union Minister. "My relation with Nitish ji has only strengthened. He is our supreme leader. I was his former Personal Secretary, it was he who brought me to the politics and pitched my name as a Union Cabinet Minister," he added.
Singh further said that he will abide by the party's instructions as far as leaving the post of national president is concerned. "I am currently party's national president as well as a minister. My aim would be to do justice with both my responsibilities, however, if the party wants, I would happily resign from the post of national president to take it up by somebody else. I would like someone worthy to become the national president," he stated.
The newly inducted minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a place to the JD(U) in the Union Cabinet in spite of the BJP having a thumping majority at the Centre.
