Punjab: Unemployed teacher alights from mobile tower after 135 days

Surinder Gurdaspur, who has been protesting and camping atop a mobile tower, has finally ended his protest and alighted from the towering tower. He was one among the unemployed teachers who cleared Elementary Teacher Training-Teacher Eligibility Test (ETT-TET) and demanding the state government to give them preference in 6,635 primary school teacher posts.

Patiala (Punjab): Surinder Gurdaspur, who has been protesting and camping atop a mobile tower, has finally ended his protest and alighted from the towering tower. He is one among the unemployed teachers who have cleared Elementary Teacher Training-Teacher Eligibility Test (ETT-TET) and were demanding the state government to give them preference in 6,635 primary school teacher posts.

Today when Surinderpal was brought down from the mobile tower, his condition had deteriorated. He was not even able to stand on his feet. The team of doctors reached the spot and inspected him before whisking him away to Rajindra Hospital for a thorough medical check-up. Sukhwinder Gurdaspur said that unemployed teachers, who have been fighting for employment for a long time, were forced to bear the brunt of police lathicharge, jumped into canals, climbed mobile towers to fight for their rights.

After which, the Punjab government issued advertisements for the recruitment of 6,635 primary teachers, accepting their demands, bowing to the struggle of unemployed teachers. A large number of Patiala administration and police officers were also present at the site besides thousands of unemployed teachers of Punjab near the tents.
