Mumbai: In the backdrop of veteran politician Sharad Pawar's resignation from the post of national president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said it was an internal matter of the party and stressed that it would not have any impact on the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) unity. He refrained from commenting on Sharad Pawar's revised autobiography, "Lok Maje Sangati", released on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference at Matoshree, Thackeray said Pawar's resignation was an internal decision of the NCP. "Every party has its right to decide its policies and its mission. Workers and party activists have their opinion on Pawar while I will discuss with him later," Thackeray said. Pawar will take decision that will benefit all, he added.

Reacting on the revelations in Pawar's book where the veteran politician refuted allegations over Mumbai being separated from Maharashtra, Thackeray said that everyone has the right to write and speak in autobiography. "Everyone knows what I did as chief minister. People of the state still consider me the head of the family. So I don't want to say anything more about it. But I will not make any statement that will dent the MVA unity," Thackeray said.

Thackeray has often said that BJP-led central government tried to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra. He had alleged that central government was shifting important projects, central government offices and institutions from Mumai to either Gujarat or Delhi. However, in his book, Pawar wrote that he had spoken to many leaders of Delhi and was confident that there was no such effort to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra.
