Agartala: Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress workers on Sunday besieged the police headquarters demanding the arrest of those who led a murderous assault on the state Youth Congress president Pujan Biswas recently. They gave the police an ultimatum of 24 hours to arrest those involved in the crime.
"We want to know the faces behind the attack. We have gathered some telephone recordings that ascertain the involvement of one Basim Miah, a resident of Kailashahar under Tripura’s Unakoti district. We have submitted all the evidence to the police and urged them to take immediate measures,” a youth Congress worker said.

"It is quite astonishing to see that Congress party leaders are not safe in this state. When we came here to meet in a deputation, the police officials did not show any interest to talk with us. After our supporters blockaded the main road, one officer came out and received our memorandum," Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress vice president Prasenjit Das said.
Biswas had allegedly been attacked by unknown armed assailants at Sonamura in Tripura. He managed to escape and safely returned to Agartala.
According to Biswas, the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated and the government must take immediate steps to restore people’s faith in law enforcement agencies.
