Ramnagar (Uttarakhand): Even as rain is wreaking havoc in the state, employees of the Jim Corbett National Park rescued workers who got stuck on an island while building a retaining wall in Dhangarhi drain of Ramnagar Corbett. Along with five labourers, two forest workers who were also trapped, have been rescued.
The laborers were building the retaining wall in Dhangarhi drain when heavy rain caused the Dhangarhi drain to overflow The workers got stuck on an island due to the overflowing drain. They then started shouting for help and their voices were heard by forest personnel working in the post of Corbett Tiger Reserve. The forest personnel rushed to the spot and just about managed to rescue the workers.
It may be noted that work on a flyover over Dhangarhi drain on Ramnagar National Highway 309 connecting Kumaon and Garhwal is in progress. Workers were building a retaining wall on the damaged road connecting Sarfaduli and Dhikala when the water level of Dhangarhi drain increased due to rise in rainfall in the mountains.
