1. Taliban capture Kandahar, Herat in major Afghanistan offensive: Reports

The Taliban on Thursday captured Kandahar and Herat, the country’s second and third-largest cities after Kabul, further choking the embattled Afghanistan government. With this, 12 of the war-torn country's 34 provincial capitals are now reportedly under the control of the terrorist organisation.

2. Delta plus patient dies in Mumbai even after fully vaccinated

A 63-year-old woman became the first patient in Mumbai to scumbled to the Delta Plus Covid variant after receiving both doses of covid vaccine. The woman died of Covid on July 27 and the Genomic sequencing tests on Wednesday confirmed that she was suffering from Delta Plus variant.

4. COVID-19: India logs 40K fresh cases

India reported 40,120 fresh COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours, a bulletin from the Union Health Ministry stated at 8 am on Friday. In the same duration, the country saw 42,295 recoveries and 585 deaths. India's current tally of cases stand at 3,21,17,826 and total recoveries at 3,13,02,345. As many as 4,30,254 people have lost their lives.

5. When will you become the President of India?, 10-yr-old asks PM Modi

Ten-year-old Anisha, daughter of Dr. Sujay Vikhe Patil, a BJP Lok Sabha MP from Ahmednagar, is a die-hard admirer and always wanted to meet PM Modi. In the course of interaction, Anisha popped up with a question to Modi, "You are from Gujarat, so when will you become the President of India?" This led to PM Modi and others present on the occasion burst into laughter.
