1. Militant hideout busted in Kashmir’s Bandipora district

Security forces in a joint operation on Wednesday busted a militant hideout and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tarbal village of Gurez in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

2. IAF brings back citizens from war-torn Afghanistan

A special flight of the Indian Air Force carrying Indian diplomats and staff from Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, landed at the Hindon Airbase this morning. With this, the evacuation of people from the Indian consulate in Mazar has been completed, sources said.

3. Delhi Court acquits CM Kejriwal and Deputy CM Sisodia in bureaucrat assault case

A Delhi court (दिल्ली कोर्ट) dropped all charges against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal (अरविंद केजरीवाल), Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia (मनीष सिसोदिया) and nine other AAP MLAs (आप विधायक) on Wednesday in connection with the 2018 assault case of Delhi's then Chief Secretary (मुख्य सचिव) Anshu Prakash.

4. Ruckus breaks out in MP Assembly, Cong MLA tears his clothes

The monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly has been adjourned sine die following ruckus by Congress MLAs in the house. A massive uproar broke out in the house after Congress legislators had demanded the implementation OBC quota.  

5. Avail free meals in this Bhatkal restaurant, if your name is Neeraj

To honour Neeraj Chopra on winning a gold medal in Tokyo Olympics, the Taamra restaurant in Bhatkal district in Karnataka has announced a free meal to all those named Neeraj. The restaurant took social media to announce the offer which will last till August 15.

1. Opposition leaders to meet, formulate new strategy today

With Parliament entering the final week of the Monsoon Session, a meeting of floor leaders of Opposition parties in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha is scheduled to be held in the Chamber of Leader of Opposition, Rajya Sabha (Room no 43 Parliament House) at 10 am on Wednesday.  

2. Telangana: BJP leader found dead in his burnt car's trunk

Former BJP district vice-president and businessman V. Srinivas Prasad was found dead in the trunk of his burnt car on Tuesday, police said. A few people set Srinivas, along with his car, on fire, in the early hours of Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.

3. Biden rules out changes in troop withdrawal plan from Afghan

US President Joe Biden Tuesday ruled out any change in the withdrawal of his troops from Afghanistan despite the Taliban increasingly gaining control over large parts of the country. President Biden has ordered the withdrawal of all the US troops from Afghanistan by September 11.  

4. TN postmaster treks 25 km, delivers pension to centenarian

For the past six months, Christuraja, (55), a postmaster, travels 25 kms in the Western Ghats to deliver the old age pension (OAP) for a woman centenarian living in a remote hamlet of Injikkuzhi, located in the dense forest of Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, above Karaiyar dam. This time ETV Bharat trekked the entire distance along with Christuraja.

5. Ethiopia calls 'all capable' citizens to fight in Tigray war

Ethiopia's government on Tuesday summoned all capable citizens to war, urging them to join the country's military to stop resurgent forces from the embattled Tigray region once and for all." The call to arms is an ominous sign that all of Ethiopia's 110 million people are being drawn into a conflict that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, once declared would be over within weeks.
