US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday said he deeply appreciates the work that India and the US have been able to do together and the work that the two countries to do in the coming months. Blinken said this during his maiden visit to India.

Amid a stalemate in Parliament over the Pegasus snooping issue, leaders of various opposition parties on Wednesday met and decided to submit similar adjournment notices on the matter. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday held bilateral talks with his Belarusian counterpart Lt Gen Viktor Khrenin on the sidelines of a conclave of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Dushanbe. Officials said the two ministers deliberated on bilateral defence cooperation and touched upon regional security challenges.

The Supreme Court has rejected a plea filed by the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala seeking permission to withdraw cases against its leaders who were involved in the vandalization of the Kerala Assembly in 2015, during tabling of the budget.

US Secretary of StateAntony Blinken on Wednesday is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar, on his first visit to India after assuming office.

2. India logs 43,654 fresh COVID cases, 640 deaths

India reported 43,654 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry at 8 am on Wednesday. The death toll climbed to 4,22,022 with 640 daily fatalities. The active cases in the country now stand at 3,99,436 .

A petition filed before President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, by Padma awardee Mohammad Sharif, has evoked a prompt response. The President's secretariat informed that Sharif's July 19 petition has been forwarded to the UP chief minister's office for necessary action.

A 28-year-old girl from Gujarat's Vadodara, Shweta Parmar on Tuesday became the state's first and the country's fourth licensed civilian woman skydiver. Speaking to the media, Parmar said, "I am really very happy that I have been able to make my state and country proud.
