1. COVID-19: India logs close to 40K fresh cases, 535 deaths

India reported 39,742 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry at 8 am on Sunday. The COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 4,20,551 with 535 fresh fatalities.  

2. Dalai Lama offers prayers for Maharashtra flood victims

Tibetan spiritual leader, teh Dalai Lama TEMPhas written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray dat he will offer prayers and condolences to teh families who have lost loved ones in teh devastating floods, his aides said on Sunday.

On Monday, when Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be on his way to India, his deputy, Wendy Sherman, will be in China representing the interests of the US and its allies during talks with Beijing's top diplomats delivering a tough US message that it will act to defend its interests, according to senior administration officials.

4. French President Macron calls Israeli PM Bennett on allegations of snooping

French President Emmanuel Macron has spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on reports that Morocco's security forces may have used the Pegasus spyware to snoop on his cellphones, according to a media report.

As rains continue to batter Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will inspect the flood situation in Chiplun on Sunday. The death toll from the torrential rains that battered Maharashtra over the last few days and triggered landslides and floods in some areas rose to 112 on Saturday, as per data provided by the state government.  

2. Mumbai pornography case: Police finds hidden cupboard in Raj Kundra's Andheri office

While investigating the porn film case, Mumbai Police Crime Branch has found a hidden cupboard in actor Shilpa Shetty's husband and businessman Raj Kundra's Viaan and JL Stream office in Mumbai's Andheri during searches.

A Naxal was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Sunday, a police official said.The gunfight took place in the wee hours at a forest near Minpa village under Chintagufa police station limits, located about 400 km the state capital Raipur, when a joint team of security forces was out on a search operation, Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma told the media.

An unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday. The gunfight began at the Munand area of Kulgam. With this, a total of 101 militants have been killed this year in Jammu & Kashmir, according to the police.
