1. Delete tweets against Laxmi Puri, Delhi HC raps activist

The Delhi High Court on Monday directed activist Saket Gokhale to delete all tweets against former United Nations assistant secretary-general Lakshmi Puri and her husband and Union Minister Hardeep Puri within 24 hours. A bench of Justice C Harishankar also directed Twitter to remove those tweets if Saket Gokhale fails to do so. 

2. Priyanka to reach Lucknow on July 16; key meetings scheduled in Delhi before visit

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Lucknow from July 16 as part of efforts to energise the party cadre and prepare the organisation for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls next year, sources said Tuesday. They said she was scheduled to begin her visit on July 14 but had to delay it for some key meetings in Delhi mostly related to preparations for the Uttar Pradesh polls.

3. Nepali Congress chief Deuba to form small Cabinet today

Nepal's Opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba is set to form a small Cabinet on Tuesday, a day after the Supreme Court directed President Bidya Devi Bhandari to appoint the Nepali Congress chief as the country's new prime minister. 

4. 1983 World Cup winner Yashpal Sharma dies of cardiac arrest

Former Indian cricketer and 1983 World Cup winner Yashpal Sharma passed away on Tuesday due to a cardiac arrest. "Yashpal Sharma passed away around 7:40 in the morning due to cardiac arrest. He was declared dead on arrival," sources close to the family told the media.

5. Arjun Kapoor on Janhvi Kapoor calling him 'Bhaiya': 'Sounds very strange'

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has always been vocal about his strenuous relationship with his father Boney Kapoor. Though he stood like a rock to Boney at the time of Sridevi's demise the actor also admits that at the age of 35 he is trying to know his father with whom he has never lived in the same house. Arjun's relationship with his half-sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor is evolving but he is still getting used to the equation.

1. Delta variant spreading worldwide at scorching pace: WHO chief

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), on Monday warned of the "devastating outbreaks" caused by the Delta variant of Covid-19, saying that the new strain of the virus was infecting people "at a scorching pace". 

2. Uttarkashi-Gangotri highway closed after landslide, heavy rainfall

A landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, at the Dabrani region of Uttarkashi district blocked the Gangotri national highway on Tuesday. Due to the falling of huge boulders and debris on the road the Gangotri national highway is blocked.

3. 2 dead, 10 missing, 20 stranded in Himachal flash-floods

As parts of Himachal Pradesh continue to receive heavy rainfall triggering devastating flash floods, at least two people have died, 10 are missing and 20 are stranded in different locations in Kangra district. 

4. A book on the rise of Indian-Americans inspired by Kamala Harris

A group of influential Indian-Americans, scholars, diplomats and entrepreneurs have come together to write an anthology to document the historic election of Kamala Harris as Vice President and the rise of the small but powerful Indian-American community in the United States.

5. Yami Gautam to play feisty crime reporter in Lost

Actor Yami Gautam will be seen in Pink famed filmmaker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's upcoming film Lost, an investigative drama that will highlight the issue of lost values of empathy and integrity in media. Expected to go on floors this month, the upcoming film will be largely shot at real locations across the city of Kolkata and Purulia, and will highlight the underbelly of an urban city that often goes unnoticed.

Following a major Cabinet reshuffle last week, the Modi government on Monday reconstituted the powerful cabinet committees under which Union ministers Smriti Irani, Bhupender Yadav and Sarbananda Sonowal have been made part of the all-important Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
