In the wake of the 'Bharat Bandh' or nationwide strike called by the farmers over the contentious farm laws on Tuesday, the Opposition parties have lent their support to the call while the government has issued an advisory to the different states and Union Territories to tighten security and maintain peace and harmony. The elections are being held in 6,910 wards in 395 local bodies in Thiruvananthapuram, Kolla, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki districts. Voting is set to begin at 7 am and conclude at 6 pm. According to the state election commission, there are 88,26,873 voters in the first phase, including 41,58,395 males, 46,68,267 females and 61 transgender people.

The health department of Bihar has developed cold storage in Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), an official said. The building chosen for storage of the vaccine was earlier used for storing medical equipment. It has the capacity to store six lakh vaccines at one time.
