Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is likely to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi today over the issue of farmers' agitation. Singh is expected to give his suggestions to ease the ongoing tension with a section of leaders in the Congress Party wary of the turn the agitation may take if prolonged too much.

2. MDH owner Dharampal Gulati passes away

The owner of MDH 'Mahashay' Dharampal Gulati passed away at the Mata Chandan Devi Hospital on Thursday morning.The MDH owner, who was fondly called 'dadaji' and 'Mahashayji', was born in 1923 in Sialkot, Pakistan. A school drop out, Gulati joined his father's spice business in Sialkot and, after partition, moved to India where he opened a shop in Karol Bagh in Delhi.

3. Kerala braces for Cyclone Burevi, dry weather prevails in north

Authorities in Kerala on Wednesday opened over 2,000 relief camps and banned fishing along the coast for the next three days as they geared up to deal with cyclonic storm Burevi, which is expected to make landfall in the state by December 4. In the north, the weather department forecast rain and snowfall in the high hills of Himachal Pradesh on December 4, 7 and 8.

4. 2021 board exams to be held in written mode, not online: CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said the board examinations of 2021 will be conducted in the conventional written mode, adding there was no proposal to conduct the exams online. The dates of examination, however, have not been decided yet, officials said. According to the Ministry of Education, "conducting the examinations is important to ensure the progress as well as a better future of the students".

At a press conference on Singhu border near Delhi, Madhya Pradesh-based farmer leader Shiv Kumar Kakkaji said the agitation would continue till the government withdrew all three farm laws.

The Income Tax Department has issued refunds worth over Rs 1.40 lakh crore to more than 59.68 lakh taxpayers this fiscal till December 1. This includes personal income tax (PIT) refunds amounting to Rs 38,105 crore and corporate tax refunds of over Rs 1.02 lakh crore during this period.
